Looking for a NEW MASTHEAD for Speak Magazine

- We are currently accepting pitches and applications for our masthead. All Speak related questions can be directed tospeak.jhrryerson@gmail.com (they’ll be forwarded over if you send them to this account)
- Our theme is the Millennium Development Goals. We are currently accepting one-paragraph pitches for articles. We would like to have all pitches in by Oct. 17.
- We are also accepting artwork and photography on an on-going basis. Let us know if you’re interested in submitting anything and we’ll work out a way to transfer files.
- Masthead positions still available
Managing Editor: Needs to be able to manage and motivate other people. Works with Editor in Chief throughout all aspects of the magazine. Help monitor rereading of pages throughout production. Create work schedules in coordination with copy editors and head of research.
Front-of-Book Editor: Will be responsible for all editorial content in the front section of the magazine. Will work with Art Director and Associate Art Director to create a template for the front of book.
Head of Research: Needs to have strong knowledge of fact-checking principles. They will ensure all features are properly fact checked. Responsible for making sure writers have put together a checking file and that it is in order before it goes to the checker.
Production Editors (2): Ensure all deadlines are met through production, working with editors, art directors and head of research throughout the stages. Keep track of every story during the production period.
Copy Editor: Oversees editing of all articles, make sure all changes are made to electronic versions of pieces, organize proofreading of stories. Ensure a standard style is maintained throughout issue.
Business Manager: Will keep track of budget, may need to find advertisers for magazine. More details to come. - Let me know if you are interested in any of these positions, and what your qualifications are.
